About Us

The cleanliness of our property, protecting our environment and the service we provide for our guests are what we are most proud of. We work hard to achieve these goals and have been recognized for our efforts through our I Care Clean program, Energy Star Certification and Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence Award.

I Care Clean

Advanced cleaning technology

Research has shown that a clean and well-maintained hotel has become the number one priority for guests. The purpose of I Care Clean is to create a new level of customer care and cleanliness, and to empower housekeeping staff with new tools to exceed customer expectations.

We have brought advanced cleaning technologies used in hospitals to our hotel. These measures include:

Ultra violet sterilization wands

Wands from Purelight are used to sterilize “high touch points” in the hotel such as telephones, clocks, light switches, door handles, bathroom fixtures and common areas that can be difficult to clean with traditional cleaning supplies.

UV Inspection Black Lights

These black lights are used for training purposes and as part of the housekeeper inspection process to detect any biological matter, food particles and more that the human eye cannot see.

Clean Remotes or wraps for the remote control device

These unique, seamless remote controls are designed specifically to make it easy to clean and disinfect before each guest stay.

Pillow and blanket wraps

Extra pillows and blankets are wrapped in 100 percent recyclable and biodegradable single use wraps to ensure guests know that these products have been cleaned just for them.

We are very proud of to have this program in place in order to achieve a new level of cleanliness and customer care for our guests.

We are the first hotel in Vermont to receive the EPA Energy Star© Certification.

Green Hotel in the Green Mountain State

Because of our demonstrated commitment to preserving Vermont’s environment, the Best Western Plus Windjammer Inn has been recognized by the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation and the Small Business Development Center as a Green Hotel in the Green Mountain State. The initiatives that we have in place include but are not limited to:

  • Linen/towel Re-use program
  • Low-flow shower heads - we save over 740,000 gallons of water per year
  • Dimmer controls on lighting
  • Recycling program (guest rooms, public areas, offices)
  • HVAC efficiency control system with programmable thermostats
  • Energy Efficient CFL lighting
  • Motion sensor light switches in public restrooms and offices
  • Compost Kitchen waste - over 150,000 pounds of food waster per year
  • Installed bottle-free water filtration system

Ionic (Ozone) Laundry

Laundry operations currently account for almost one quarter of all water consumed in a typical hotel and 17 percent of the hot water annual heating costs. Hotels that install ozone systems in their laundry facilities will experience more productivity in their laundry operations. Shorter dry times, fewer chemicals, less water, electricity and natural gas are some of the benefits of ozone systems.

Eco Lab Bulk Dispensers

We saved 7958 bottles of glass cleaner, bath cleaner, air freshener and all-purpose cleaner from going into the land fill - Also, the packaging from the bulk product becomes completely flat after use and takes less room in the big picture.

Purchase Post-Consumer Products

We are re-using/re-cycling these resources that have been recovered rather than thrown away instead of using virgin resources such as live trees for paper

  • Toilet Tissue: 40% post-consumer
  • Toilet Tissue: 40% post-consumer

  • Paper Plates - 100%
  • Paper Bowls - 100%
  • copy paper - 30% recycled content
  • Trash Liners - 20% post-consumer

We purchase recycled toner cartridges whenever possible and send our cartridges back out to be recycled when we are finished with them. We recycle approx.. 15-20 cartridges per year.

By providing 12 complimentary newspapers at the front desk for guests to take or share instead of leaving a newspaper at every door, we save 13,870 newspapers per year.
